샤를르 보들레르. 악의 꽃(상승)

 

미항공우주국 NASA에서는
인류의 문명을 알리기 위해 보이저호
55개 언어로 된 인사말과(한국어 포함) 시를 녹음하여 실려 보냈다.
보이저호는 1977년 지구를 떠나서 46년째 우주를 탐함하고 있는데

샤를르 보들레르의
악의 꽃(Flowers of aeavil) 상승(Élévation)을 낭송하여
실려 보냈는데 대중들과 소통하던 일반적인 시는 아니었기 때문이라고 했다

샤를르 보들레르가 술과 마약 매춘으로 방탕하게 살던 시절 집필한 시로
미풍양속을 저해한다는 이우로 유죄판결을 받았던 작품이다

계곡 위와 바다 위,
산 위의 숲 위에, 구름 위에, 바다 위에,
태양 너머 천 개의 능선 너머
별이 빛나는 창공 너머,

오 마음이여, 당신은 쉽게 잘 솟아오릅니다
바다를 들어 올리는 수영선수처럼
당신은 형언할 수 없는 남자다운 기쁨에 감격하여
저 깊은 광대함을 모두 품어 안았습니다

날아라! 오 정말 이 불결한 곳에서 멀리 나세요
가서 더 높은 공기로 당신의 비참함을 정화시키고
가서 순수하고 깨끗한 기운을 들이켜십시오
맑은 불이 투명한 하늘 전체를 가득 채울 것입니다

바람 한 점 없는 대기에 있는 낮은 곳 연무로부터
고대의 재앙과 병으로 가득 찬 이 재난으로부터
가장 행복하고 운이 좋은 사람은 마음먹은 대로 할 수 있습니다
밝고 공정한 지역으로 비행하십시오

힘들지 않게 날개를 펼치고 생각하는 사람은 행복합니다
아침에 종달새처럼 일어나 하늘로 도약하고
깨어나는 땅 위로, 초연하고 자유롭게, 모든 것을 듣습니다
꽃들의 목소리와 모든 소리와 없는 소리까지
