Strange, to wander in the fog.
Each bush and stone stands alone,
No tree sees the next one,
Each is alone.

My world was full of friends
When my life was filled with light,
Now as the fog descends
None is still to be seen.

Truly there is no wise man
Who does not know the dark
Which quietly and inescapably
Separates him from everything else.

안개 속에서 - 헤르만 헷세
신기하도다. 안개 속을 지나는 것은!
모든 나무 덤불과 돌무더기가 외롭다
어떤 나무도 주변 나무를 보지 못한다
누구든 혼자이다

나의 삶이 아직 환했을 때
내게 세상은 친구들로 가득했다
이제 안개가 깔려
더는 아무도 보이지 않는다

어둠을 떼어 놓을 수 없게 나직하게
모든 것으로부터 그를 갈라놓는
어둠을 모르는 자
정녕 그 누구도 현명치 않다

신기하도다, 안개 속을 거니는 것은!
삶이 외롭게 홀로라는 것
어떤 사람도 다른 사람을 알지 못한다
누구든 혼자이다
