One day in autumn

Alps autumn windy sunny afternoon
My heart is wide awake, yet full of dreams.
The air, alive with hushed confusion, teems
With scent of grain-fields, and a mystic rune,
Foreboding of the fall of Summer soon,
Keeps swelling and subsiding, till there seems

O'er all the world of valleys, hills, and streams,
Only the wind's inexplicable tune.
My heart is full of dreams, yet wide awake.
I lie and watch the topmost tossing boughs
Of tall elms,

pale against the vaulted blue;
But even now some yellowing branches shake,
Some hue of death the living green endows:
If beauty flies, fain would I vanish too.

가을 어느 날

알프스 가을바람이 불어오는 화창한 오후

깨어 있는 내 마음은 꿈으로 가득 차 있다
은밀한 혼돈 살아 숨 쉬는 공기는
밭의 향기와 신비로운 이야기로
여름은 가고 다가올 가을을 예감하며
눈에 보일 때까지 들뜬 기분이 요동칠 것이다

계곡과 언덕 개울이 있는 이 세상이여,
바람의 설명할 수 없는 선율을 타고 
마음에 꿈을 가득 채우기 위해 열어두었다
저 높은 곳에서 흔들리는 나뭇가지를 상상해 본다
키 큰 느릅나무,

푸른 돔형 천장이 창백하게 빛나고 있다 
또한 누렇게 변한 나뭇가지들이 흔들린다
녹색이 탈색된 죽음의 색조,
만약 아름다움이 없어지면 나도 사라져 버릴 것이다
