I Dreamt a Dream! what can it mean?
And that I was a maiden Queen:
Guarded by an Angel mild;
Witless woe, was neer beguil'd!

 

And I wept both night and day
And he wip'd my tears away
And I wept both day and night
And hid from him my hearts delight

 

So he took his wings and fled:
Then the morn blush'd rosy red:
I dried my tears & armd my fears,
With ten thousand shields and spears.

 

Soon my Angel came again;
I was arm'd, he came in vain:
For the time of youth was fled
And grey hairs were on my head

나는 꿈을 꾸었다 그것은 무엇을 의미하는 것일까?
내가 처녀 여왕이었다는 것을 ,
순한 천사가 지키고 있습니다
어리석은 비애, 결코 속일 수 없었습니다

 

그리고 나는 밤낮으로 울었다
그는 내 눈물을 닦아주었다
그리고 나는 또 밤낮 모르고 울었다
기쁜 내 마음을 그에게 들키고 싶지 않았다

 

그러자 그는 날개를 펴고 도망쳤다
아침의 홍조가 붉게 물들었다
나는 눈물을 닦고 두려움을 무장시켰다
만개의 방패와 창으로

 

얼마 지나지 않아 나의 천사가 다시 찾아왔다
나는 팔을 뻗었고, 그는 반항도 않고 안겼다
어린 시절 환상 모두 도망쳐버리고
내 머리에는 회색 머리카락만 나 있었다
