어찌 내가 너를 여름날에 비유할수 있을까?
네가 더욱 사랑스럽고 더 온화하다
사랑스런 꽃봉오리가 5월의 세찬 바람에 흔들려도
여름이라는 계절은 너무 짧다
때로는 하늘이 너무 뜨겁고 눈이 부시고
종종 금빛으로 빛나던 너의 안색이 어둡게 보인다
하물며 공평한듯 보이는 이 모든 것들도 언젠가는 시든다
우연히, 또는 자연스럽게 변화하는 과정에서, 다듬어지지 않은 채.

그러나 너의 여름은 영원히 변하지 않을 것이며
너에게 주어진 공평함을 잃지도 않을 것이고
죽음이 너의 그늘에서 방황한다고 떠들지도 않을 것이다
영원한 시간 선상에서 있게 된다면
인간이 숨을 쉬거나 눈을 볼 수 있는 한
지금처럼 살다보면 영원히 너에게 생명을 줄것이다
