오, 선장님! 나의 선장님! 우리의 두려운 여행은 끝났습니다
배는 모든 선반을 통과했고 우리가 찾던 상품을 얻었습니다
항구가 가까워지고, 종소리가 들리고, 사람들이 모두 환호하고,
꾸준한 용골을 따라가는 동안
그 배는 으스스할 정도로 대담했습니다
그러나 오 마음이여!
오 피를 흘리고 있는 붉은 방울이여
갑판 위에 누워 있는 선장님이
추위를 견디지 못하고 죽었습니다

오 선장님! 나의 선장님! 일어나서 종소리를 들으세요
당신을 위하여 깃발을 올리고 나팔 소리를 울리겠습니다
당신을 위한 꽃다발과 리본이 달린 화환이 해안가에 붐빕니다
북적대는 군중들, 애도하는 얼굴들이 당신을 향합니다
여길 봐요! 선장 아버지!
머리 밑에 팔베개가 있습니다
갑판 위에는 보이지 않는 꿈이 있는데
당신은 추위를 견디지 못하고 죽었습니다

우리 선장은 대답도 없고 창백한 입술은 말이 없습니다
아버지는 내 팔을 느끼지도 못하고 맥박도 뛰지 않는데
배는 안전하게 튼튼히 정박된 채 닻을 내렸고 항해는 끝났습니다
두려운 여행에서 승리한 배는 물건을 가지고 왔습니다
오 기슭이여 기뻐하라, 종소리여 울려라
하지만 나는 슬픈 걸음으로 갑판 위를 서성인다
죽은 체하고 있는 듯한 나의 선장은
추위를 견디지 못하고 죽었습니다

The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up--for you the flag is flung--for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths--for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
