날리는 나뭇잎처럼

떠돌면서 몸에 쌓인 외로운 처지를
알프스 무심히 흐르는 구름에게 묻기도 한다
빙벽 흰빛이 돌로미티를 녹아내린
흐르다 고인 가르다(Garda) 호수가
물무늬 찰랑이는 것은 별다른 뜻도 없어 보이고
물 위를 떠가는 구름도 무심한데
그조차도 외면한 타국을
외진 길 방황하는 나그네의 슬픔이라 말한다

거리를 서성일 때마다
찬바람 떨고 있는 나뭇잎처럼
끌어안을 수 없는 가지 끝으로
내몰리고 마는 지독한 외로움

 

베니스도, 밀라노도,
내 몸 하나 뉘일 곳 없는 어둠에 불과하고
호수서 일렁이는 바람에도
끝내 휘청이고 마는
정다운 것은 호수를 떠다니는 물새들이다

Birdsong brings relief
to my longing
I'm just as ecstatic as they are,
but with nothing to say!
