성운 星雲

밀리듯 쫓기고 싶지 않아 노을을 눈감는 동안
드넓어진 수평선 어둠 진해올수록
싸늘하게 누워 있는 죽음의 존재처럼
불균형으로 가득 찬 압도적인 삶의 무게
그것은 기생충처럼 나를 갉아먹고
말라비틀어진 내 영혼에 오한을 던지고
끝없는 밤을 속삭이며 춤추는 파도
깜깜한 어둠이 끈질긴 빛으로 맥동하기 시작하면
영원한 불꽃을 간직한 채
오래된 모든 것들이 임종을 고할 때까지
이제는 이유도 목적도 알려하지 않고
마치 옛날부터 나를 아는 것처럼
만나고, 헤어지고, 눈물짓고, 가슴 아팠던
그 모든 것들로 깊어 가는 이 밤
독백을 성운의 시로 노래 부르며

 

 

Down in dim woods the diamond delves! the elves’-eyes
Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
"Bright Star, while thou thy lonely way
Stars, I have seen them fall,
Pursu’st in yon expanse of blue,
Thy gem-like form and steady ray
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth’s human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors …
